Eerste ontmoeting met Los Angeles

Na jaren wachten was het moment er eindelijk dat ik echt naar Amerika ging! Het stond heel hoog op mijn bucketlist en voor mij was dit de eerste echte verre reis! Hiervoor ging ik altijd met de auto op vakantie. Het was een hele nieuwe ervaring voor mij en ik was meteen verslaafd aan reizen en vliegen!

Taxichauffeur 

Onze vlucht naar Los Angeles duurt ongeveer 12 uur. Het valt allemaal heel erg mee omdat ik er zo naar uit kijk dat het voor mijn gevoel veel korter is. We komen aan op LAX, de luchthaven van Los Angeles, het is al onwijs druk. Terwijl het juli en dus midden in de zomer is, valt het weer mij onwijs tegen en heb ik het gewoon koud. Gelukkig ben ik dit ook vrij snel weer vergeten door alle nieuwe indrukken die ik op doe.

Omdat wij pas in de avond op het vliegveld aankomen en nog een taxi moeten regelen, komen wij erg laat aan in het hotel. Eenmaal in het hotel hebben wij onwijs trek en besluiten op zoek te gaan naar een restaurant. Op de hoek van ons hotel vinden we een seventeleven supermarkt en er staat een taxi waarvan de chauffeur een broodje zit te eten in de auto. Wij kloppen op de ruit om te vragen of hij ons naar een restaurant kan brengen, niet wetende dat we deze man  zo laten schrikken, haha. 

De man schrikt zo onwijs dat hij zijn broodje een gooi geeft tegen de voorruit van de auto! Eenmaal bijgekomen van de schrik en zijn broodje weer bijeen geraapt , draait hij het raampje van de auto open en zegt; Oh my god! You guys scare the shit out of me! Promise me never to do that again in this area! Hierna moet hij heel hard lachen en mogen we instappen. Wij hebben hier de hele reis nog veel plezier om!

De taxichauffeur zet ons af bij een typisch Amerikaans burgerrestaurant. De aankleding in dit restaurant is ook echt helemaal in deze stijl. Ik bestel iets maar had beter samen een portie kunnen delen want mann, wat een grote porties krijg je hier! Ik weet niet waar ik dat moet laten, daar doe ik wel 3 dagen over!

Na het vele eten besluiten we terug te wandelen naar het hotel om weer een beetje ons volle gevoel kwijt te raken. Tijdens de wandeling valt het mij op dat op elke hoek van de straat wel een fastfood restaurant zit, echt niet normaal! Overal is, zie en ruik je eten.

Wat ik wel onwijs gaaf vind is dat het echte straatbeeld dat ik heb van Amerika, nu voor mij ook werkelijkheid geworden is. Het gaat nu pas echt doordringen dat ik in the USA ben! 
We zijn halverwege de wandeling als twee mannen ons tegemoet komen lopen, mijn tante (met wie ik op reis ben) zegt direct  ‘pas maar op en let goed op jullie tassen’. Eén van de mannen komt recht op ons aflopen. Wij zijn best nieuwsgierig maar toch gespannen over de bedoeling hiervan. Tot mijn en ik denk iedereens grote verbazing laat de man zich op zijn knieën vallen vlak voor mijn tante….Ik denk wat is dit voor gek. dan begint hij ook nog te praten ‘an angel has fallen from the Sky, I’ve never seen an angel before’! Wat krijgen we nou weer?! Eerst die bange taxichauffeur en nu dit, haha, we kijken elkaar aan en schieten in de lach! Terwijl we de man proberen kwijt te raken, lopen we al lachend naar het hotel. Dit voorspelt veel goeds en vele lachbuien voor onze verdere reis.

Bij aankomst in de hotelkamer vallen we eigenlijk vrijwel meteen in slaap . Helaas ben ik wel alweer midden in de nacht wakker: Jetlag!!!

Aan het einde van onze reis komen wij weer in LA en bezoeken we de bezienswaardigheden. Ben jij wel eens in LA geweest en wat vond je ervan?!
